Activities
Each year from June to November, the warm, sheltered waters of Vava’u become the birthing and breeding grounds to hundreds of majestic humpback whales. A journey of over 6,000kms, the annual migration of humpback whales from their summer feeding grounds in the Antarctic, to their winter breeding grounds in Tonga, is one of the largest and longest animal movements in the world.
Vava'u is one of only a few places in the world where you can swim with humpback whales (with licenced guides).
The crystal clear waters of Vava’u are perfect for swimming, snorkelling and diving all year round.
Swimming is possible at the beach only a few steps from The Harbourview. For the more adventurous diver, there is Mariner's Cave, a cave completely sealed from the outside world, accessible only via 15 metre underwater tunnel.
The Harbourview offers an open fale/BBQ area in the gardens with harbour views for the exclusive use of guests.
There is something for everyone all year round in Vava’u. We can help suggest or arrange activities such as: whale swimming/watching, sports fishing, diving, snorkelling, sailing, kayak tours, and land tours. Rental cars can also be organised.
